During our honeymoon in New Zealand, I had to carry her back to our hotel because she was in so much pain from eating a dish (including lots of cheese) at an Italian restaurant. And although she's cut it out completely on occasions and felt MUCH better, she still continues to go back to it....especially chocolate. I just finished a stint as a first time primary caregiver and things would have gone much more smoothly if we had a family meeting to know what everyone was thinking. My aunt had breast cancer but everyone had their own ideas of how hard we should try to keep her independent and alive. No one really asked her and she only voiced it to me. I took a lot of heat for making decisions that were considered iffy by people that were thinking what was best for them and not her. Great topic. I think that Step 3 is critical. I was diagnosed with hormone positive breast cancer 2 years ago and I eat a substantial amount of diary, especially cheese, a lot low fat thinking I was eating well.
