My wife is allergic to dairy products. During our honeymoon in New Zealand, I had to carry her back to our hotel because she was in so much pain from eating a dish (including lots of cheese) at an Italian restaurant. And although she's cut it out completely on occasions and felt MUCH better, she still continues to go back to it....especially chocolate.

Hopefully, when I show her this article, she will stay away completely.

Thx, Danny

I think that Step 3 is critical. I just finished a stint as a first time primary caregiver and things would have gone much more smoothly if we had a family meeting to know what everyone was thinking. My aunt had breast cancer but everyone had their own ideas of how hard we should try to keep her independent and alive. No one really asked her and she only voiced it to me. I took a lot of heat for making decisions that were considered iffy by people that were thinking what was best for them and not her. Great topic.

After reading about this new study, I've started grouping all my friends into "8s" and wondering who would be it. Terrible, I know. Terrible because of course, I'm never the one who will get it.

As much as this hits the bone, I can't sit around and worry and wait for "it" to happen.

I've seen Alzheimer's up close--my mom had it and I was her caregiver for the last three years of her life, so I'm not fooling myself here, but I refuse to live my life in fear.

If my mother's passing taught me anything, it's that we must seize the moment, our lives--and give it good long, deep kiss.

Great piece on caregiver stress. We will continue to see rising costs in caregiver medical expenses until the public and health care plans begin to understand the ramifications of the stress related illnesses caregivers suffer.

I believe we are making the whole caregiver issue too complicated. The simplicity of it all is the need to address and fullfill the obligation to the public by:

Educating the public in all venues that reach the masses

National Healthcare recognition of respite care options and federal funding to the Olmstead Act and Lifespan Respite Care Act.

Increased funding for research for Alzheimer's, the most common form of dementia.

Keep up the good work!

This is very positive and the best reading I have encountered in a long time. I was diagnosed with hormone positive breast cancer 2 years ago and I eat a substantial amount of diary, especially cheese, a lot low fat thinking I was eating well. I am certainly going to change my diet to exclude diary, although it will be hard.

thankyou
